Ready to enjoy pizza again? This recipe is hands down the best breakfast pizza recipe you will ever try. You have eggs, organic sausage , organic cheese on a homemade whole grain crust. This is a pretty basic recipe, but is easily customizable. I’ve added bacon, pineapple, spinach , all sorts of things before so the possibilities are endless. To make this breakfast pizza more time friendly you can make the dough for the crust the night before and store in the fridge then just pull it out in the morning, add toppings and bake. This pizza makes about 12 average size slices.
- 2 cups of whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup of wheat germ
- 1 1/4 cup of whole wheat pastry flour
- 1 tablespoon of yeast
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups of warm water
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup of breakfast sausage
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Add the warm water and yeast in the bowl of your stand mixer and allow to sit for 5 mins. Add the dough hook attachment and add the wheat germ; allow the mixer to stir with the dough hook for about a 1 min. Add the whole wheat flour 1 cup at a time until kneaded well. Add the olive oil at this time then add the whole wheat pastry flour . Let the stand mixer knead the dough until a smooth, soft dough is formed. This will take about 10mins. Wisk your eggs with about 2 tablespoons of milk and salt and pepper to taste. In a preheated frying pan scramble the eggs until a soft egg is cooked. Roll out your dough to make a pizza crust. This is where you can make the dough as thin or as thick as you would like. Place the dough on a greased pizza pan and use your fingers to make dents through out the crust.
Add your eggs on top, take your breakfast sausage and pull apart into tiny balls and sprinkle the cheese on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 for 30 mins.
An easy, healthy breakfast pizza. Let’s enjoy pizza again while staying clean, organic and healthy. Kid friendly, mommy approved! I would love to hear how this recipe worked for you and the variety of toppings you used!
